Apex order on NEET cramps PGET schedule

Apex order on NEET cramps PGET schedule

With the Supreme Court passing an interim order on National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) that common entrance test (CET) for medical graduate and postgraduate courses will be voluntary and not binding, medical aspirants will have to bear the brunt.
The postgraduate (PG) entrance tests conducted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges-Karnataka (COMED-K) will have to hasten the admissions for postgraduate medical courses. As per Priya Gupta vs State of Chhattisgarh, the Supreme Court directed that the schedule for admissions for medical and dental courses will be in accordance with the directions issued.  The Supreme Court directed that the admissions for PG courses be completed by May 30.
According to RGUHS officials, “The key answers of Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) will be hosted on Tuesday. Students will be given a short time to challenge the key answers. The PGET core committee members will conduct a meeting to decide on the further course of action as we have to comply with the admission process deadline.”
“As per the SC direction, admissions to PG courses have to be completed by May 30. But with the interim order, meeting the deadline seems to be practically impossible,” the official added.  COMED-K executive director A S Shrikant said, “The answer keys of PGET was announced on Tuesday and results will be out on May 20.”
